Video: How the C8 Mid-Engine Corvette is Built

Here’s a deep dive into the production process for the mid-engine C8 Chevrolet Corvette.

At 42 minutes, this is a rather long video by internet viewing standards, but we thought it was well worth sharing, The Savagegeese YouTube channel specializes in detailed videos with top-shelf production values on contemporary performance cars, and in this episode they take a deep dive into the manufacturing of the mid-engine C8 Corvette. It’s a worthy topic, as the C8 is easily the most sophisticated Chevrolet ever designed with a fascinating build process

The Bowling Green, Kentucky Corvette plant is capable of turning out around 200 cars per day, which is a key to one of the C8’s most impressive features: the price. With a base of  $64,500, the Corvette competes against cars several times its price, and here we see the volume production methods that allow General Motors to pull that off. We also get some insightful interviews with plant leaders and  a neat look at the hand-built LT6 flat-crank engine. As we said, it’s a long video, so we’ll let you dive right  in.
