+   Argo AI, Ford’s partner in developing virtual driver systems for autonomous vehicles, has acquired LiDAR specialist Princeton Lightwave to speed the process. More at The Detroit News. 

+   Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will halt production of Maserati Levante SUVs at its plant in northern Italy for another nine days, reportedly due to Chinese import rules. More at Automotive News Europe. 

 At the Mexican Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton clinched the 2017 Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship, becoming one of only five drivers to earn four world titles. More at The UK Telegraph.

+   At the SEMA show in Las Vegas, specialty supplier Speedkore will debut a carbon-fiber body for the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon that shaves more than 400 lbs. More at Motor Trend. 

 General Motors has agreed to a $13.9 million settlement with Orange County, California, after prosecutors accused the automaker of concealing safety defects. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

 Leaked patent drawings reportedly show the lightweight SUV currently under development by Lotus, which is targeted for production in China four years from now. More at Autoblog. 

 Sources report that the Verizon IndyCar Series is almost certain to return to the Circuito Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City next year, on the first weekend of August. More at Motorsport.com.

  1. Chinese buyers must be paying a ton for Maserati Levantes. With the tariff it has to be obscenely costly.
