 In Europe, sales of gasoline-powered cars have overtaken diesel in the first half for the first time since 2009, with diesel falling to a 46.3 percent share, according to ACEA. More at Automotive News Europe. 

 The United Auto Workers has accused Nissan of illegally tracking and rating employees by their union sentiments for years at its Canton, Mississippi assembly plant  More at The Detroit News. 

+   Toyota group marketing VP Ed Laukes says the company is working on an update of its body-on-frame platform for pickups and SUVs, and a hybrid pickup may be offered. More at Motor Trend. 

+   Cadillac has closed down its factory Pirelli World Challenge team, ending an 11-year program that generated 33 wins and multiple driver and manufacturer titles. More at Racer. 

+   Honda is teasing a new sporty electric coupe concept called the Sports EV in advance of its debut at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show later this month. More at Automobile. 

 Starting this month, Cadillac will offer the 2018 CT6 with Super Cruise, a Level 2 autonomous driving system that can handle steering, acceleration, and braking on divided highways. More at Road & Track. 

 Volkswagen is taking another $3 billion charge to fix diesel engines in the United States, lifting the total bill for its emissions-cheating scandal to around $30 billion. More at Reuters. 

 A fine selection of American brass, classic, and post-war automobiles will be among the headline offerings at the 2017 RM Sotheby’s Hershey auction. More at Sports Car Digest. 

+   In the first NASCAR Monster Cup playoff round in Dover, Ryan Newman, Austin Dillon, Kasey Kahne, Kurt Busch were eliminated, leaving 12 drivers in contention for the season title. More at CBS Sports. 

+   BMW will offer the voice-activated Amazon Alexa intelligent personal assistant in every BMW and Mini model beginning in the middle of 2018. More at Autoblog.

  1. I’m sorry to see the Cadillac World Challenge program go away. I hope that GM replaces it with something equally good as has been rumored.
