Video: Watch the world’s most powerful snowblower in action

With much of America locked in a bitter winter storm (and stuck in front of the computer) here’s a fun item: the world’s most powerful snowblower showing its stuff.

This short promotional film, produced by Øveraasen of Norway, showcases the company’s full line of heavy-duty snow removal machines, but you’ll want to lean in at around the 40-second mark to see the big dog in the lineup, the TV 2000.

Built to clear the runways at Oslo Airport Gardermoen, among other Herculean tasks, the TV 2000 is powered by two giant MCU diesel engines. There’s an OM 502 LA with 650 HP to provide the road propulsion via a two-stage Oshkosh hydrostatic transmission, and there’s an S2000 V16 with 1360 hp to drive the snow blower assembly.

Just a few of the monster’s amazing stats:

+   Auger diameter x impeller diameter: 4.6 ft. x 7.2 ft.

+   Clearing width x clearing height: 11.2 ft x 7.2 ft.

+   Snow casting distance: 115 to 148 ft.

+   Snow clearing capacity: 10,000-12,000 tons per hour

+   Running weight 81,571 lbs.

+   Max operating speed 60 km/h

Now imagine this beast clearing your driveway.

  1. We don’t get much snow here in NASCAR country, so I’m gonna see how one of these stacks up against those packs of motorcycle stunt riders that block the interstates every nice weekend. Imagine it’ll do well against left lane bandits too.

  2. What would be great about clearing my driveway is that it would dump the snow about 3 or 4 houses down!
