Though the 1960s, Britian’s annual Motor Racing Car Show each January was one of the keystone events of the motorsports off-season, giving the English racing community and the world at large an opportunity to celebrate the previous season and to prepare for the next. Here are just a few of the sights at the 1965 show included in this historic video:
+ Former Mercedes-Benz racing team manager Alfred Neubauer presenting the Alfred Neubauer Trophy to England’s own John Surtees, 1964 Formula 1 champion for Ferrari.
+ BRM team principal Raymond Mays and driver Graham Hill presenting the organization’s latest BRM V8 1.5-liter Formula 1 car.
+ The McLaren-Elva V8 Mark I sports car, which would soon evolve into a series of all-conquering McLaren Group 7 Can-Am race cars.
+ Jack Brabham, Denis Hulme, and Graham Hill checking out the new Brabham Formula 3 car.
