Today’s headlines:

+   The last Australia-built Ford Falcon rolled off the Broadmeadows assembly line on Friday, marking the end of Ford’s 91-year history of car-making down under. More at News.com.au. 

+   Volkswagen Group CEO Matthias Mueller had no prior knowledge of the company’s diesel emissions cheating scheme, the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag reported. More at Automotive News Europe. 

+   With three days of negotiations remaining, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is resisting the wage increases and plant investments that Unifor, the Canadian auto workers’ union, secured from General Motors. More at the Detroit Free Press.  

+   Subaru has officially discontinued the Crosstrek Hybrid for 2017, its only hybrid in the U.S., reporting that a new hybrid will appear in the “near future.” More at Motor Trend.

+   The IndyCar team of Chip Ganassi Racing, led by four-time series champion Scott Dixon, will switch from Chevrolet to Honda engines in a multi-year deal starting in 2017. More at USA Today. 

+   A proposal to ban sales of new autos with internal-combustion engines by 2030 has gained cross-party support in the Bundesrat, Germany’s upper house of parliament. More at Yahoo! News. 

+   Two research institutes in Detroit will invest $47 million in equipment and upgrades in manufacturing technology over the next two years. More at Crain’s Detroit Business. 

+   The Tammy Allen Collection of more than 80 vehicles will be featured at no reserve at the Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas 2016 Auction on October 13-15. More at Sports Car Digest. 

+   The first trailer for The Grand Tour, an Amazon Prime automotive series starring former Top Gear stars Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May, has been released. More at Autoblog.

    Great post. If I had my own executives, I would bring them to an auction like this one. Looks like someone will get lucky there.
