Video: Ernie Adams and his dwarf ’49 Mercury

Prepare to be blown away. Here’s easily the most awesome automobile you’ll see today. Ernie Adams builds dwarf cars from scratch that are incredible in every way—and then he drives them. Here’s one of his recent jawdroppers, a ’49 Merc.

The miniature Merc is powered by a 1290cc Toyota four-banger and will run 100 mph, Ernie says. He’s got 30,000 miles on the tiny marvel, including a cruise from his home in Maricopa, Arizona to Fairmont, Indiana for the James Dean Festival, a 1900-mile jaunt.

A pioneer of the dwarf race car movement, Ernie has constructed a series of these dwarf road cars, including 1928 and 1939 Chevrolets, a ’42 Ford Convertible Coupe, and a ’29 Ford Model A rat rod. By the way, the bodies are all steel. Ernie likes to use old refrigerator sheet metal to form the panels, says he likes its memory.

You can learn more about his mechanical exploits here at his website, or at his facebook page. Be sure to visit them—you will be astounded. In the meantime, courtesy of KDawgFilmz, watch this video and see the work of a true artist and craftsman.
