Preview: 2014 St. John’s Concours

Preview St. John'sThe 2014 Concours d’Elegance of America at St. John’s in Plymouth, Michigan is set to take place Sunday, July 27. Here’s a rundown on this year’s event.

The St. John’s Concours is far more than a one-day car show. Here are just a few of the weekend’s activities:

+   On Friday, July 25, Autobahn Night in the St. John’s parking lot, hosted by German car clubs

+   Motoring Tour on Friday presented by Hagerty Insurance

+   The RM Auctions annual Motor City Auction on Saturday, July 26, with more than 80 world-class collector vehicles;

+   The Italian Happening, Saturday’s all-Italian car show on the 18th green at St. John’s

+   The tongue-in-cheek exhibition of tacky classics, the Concours d’Lemons Michigan, in the parking lot of the nearby Ford Sheldon plant on Saturday

And so much more—info is available here at the event website. Of course, the star attraction is the concours itself, which once again this year will surely be one of the top classic car shows in America. Featured classes include pickups of the Jet Age, historic drag bikes, an entire category for Model J Duesenbergs, a tribute to Virgil Exner, the evolution of the sports car 1900-1975, and more. It’s another once-in-a-lifetime assembly of automobiles.

A handful of the featured vehicles were on hand for this week’s media preview at St. John’s. Please check them out in the gallery below. See you at St. John’s.
