An impressive selection of postwar vehicles made the scene at last Sunday’s 2013 St..John’s Concours in Plymouth, Michigan. Check them out in the giant photo gallery.
Just a few of the many great cars in this group:
+ From a featured class at St. John’s for 2013, Jet Age Convertibles, the 1959 Dodge Custom Royal Convertible of Naif Makol, Jr. sports a two-tone exterior in black and yellow and a matching interior in lemon yellow. Just gorgeous.
+ In basic black paint, blackwall tires, and mid-level Fleetmaster trim, Dr. Donald Gale’s 1946 Chevy Sport Coupe wasn’t the flashiest job on the lawn, but it was still one of our favorites. Clean, honest design.
+ Kenneth Nagel’s 1960 Chrysler 300F, with its 413 CID long-ram induction setup and dual Carter four-barrels, boasts one of the most fabulous-looking engine compartments to ever come out of the Motor City. Conspicuous fuel consumption.
+ The Chrysler Historical Collection’s 1950 Willys-Overland Jeepster is a familiar sight at Detroit-area car shows over the years, but we never get tired of looking it over. A Brooks Stevens original.

Went to the show Sunday, never saw better restorations than I saw there. The paint and upholstery on the cars was better than new.
I hope that any Detroit engineers at the show noticed how nice an engine bay could look without a plastic cover over the top.
The cover is to hide 10 miles of wiring and plumbing.
