+   As the Volkswagen diesel emissions scandal deepens, CEO Martin Winterkorn has resigned and will be replaced by Porsche chief Matthias Müller. More at The Denver Post.

+   Tesla Motors will unveil its all-wheel-drive Model X electric crossover on Sept. 29 in a ceremony at the automaker’s Fremont, CA plant. More at Tech Times. 

+   Andrew Gilleland has been appointed vice president of Toyota’s Scion division, while Doug Murtha moves from that slot to direct corporate strategy and planning for Toyota in North America. More at Autoblog.

+   Clint Bowyer’s NASCAR Sprint Cup championship hopes have been dashed after his Michael Waltrip Racing team was docked 25 points for a technical infraction at Chicagoland last weekend. More at Racer.
