+   Volkswagen has ordered 10 percent cost reductions across the board, hoarding cash to cover the diesel emissions cheating scandal, reports the German weekly Automobilwoche. More at Reuters. 

+   Chinese automaker Geely is set to launch a new car brand for the mid-priced market called Lynk & Co, using a platform shared with Geely’s Volvo division. More at Automotive News Europe. 

+   Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will debut its all-new Alfa Romeo SUV, reportedly named the Stelvio, at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 14-17. More at The Detroit News. 

+   Tougher and more realistic European emissions tests motivated by the Volkswagen scandal will drive a trend toward larger engine displacements, experts predict. More at CNBC. 

+   Andretti Autosport confirmed it will campaign four cars in the IndyCar series next year, with three drivers already named: Ryan Hunter-Reay, Marco Andretti, and Alexander Rossi. More at Racer. 

+   Following much anticipation, BMW CEO Harald Krueger has now confirmed that the hybrid-powered i8 Roadster is slated for production sometime in 2018. More at Autoblog.

+   Honda is recalling 350,000 Civics from the 2016 model year to correct an electric parking brake defect that could cause vehicles to roll away when parked. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

+   Top 10 sellers at the Mecum Auctions 2016 Chicago sale included a 1967 Corvette big-block convertible at $123,000 and a ’57 Thunderbird E-code at $85,000. More at Sports Car Daily. 

+   Ford is previewing eight customized Mustangs and two Fusions to be shown at the 2016 SEMA performance industry trade show on November 1-4. More at Motor Trend. 

+   Freed by Force India to seek opportunities elsewhere, driver Nico Hulkenberg has been signed to a multi-year contract with the Renault Formula 1 team. More at ESPN.

  1. Electric parking brake? I would complain about the unnecessary complexity, but then again I’ve had a car roll across the street in the middle of the night due to a snapped cable.
