+   Volkswagen Group plans to introduce an electric subcompact crossover in 2020 that will be priced at $21,000 and aimed head-on at the Tesla Model 3. More at Bloomberg.com. 

 Ford Motor Company’s mobility unit has acquired Spin, the San Francisco-based dockless scooter maker, and will immediately introduce three models in Detroit. More at The Detroit News. 

+   Hyundai announced that its upcoming three-row SUV for 2020, to be officially unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show this month, will be named the Palisade. More at Autoblog. 

 NASCAR Monster Cup driver kevin Harvick lost his final-round playoff berth for the season title due to a post-race technical penalty at Texas, though he is still eligible for a spot. More at ESPN. 

+   Tesla Inc. has appointed Robyn Denholm, an Australian telecom executive and Tesla board member, as company chairman to replace Elon Musk, who remains as CEO. More at BBC News. 

 Two former Fiat Chrysler Automobiles officials and an ex-union representative were sentenced to prison terms for their role in a joint training center embezzling scheme. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

+   Renault will build Nissan and Mitsubishi vans at two of its plants in France, upping its investment there as it explores closer integration of the three-way automaker alliance. More at Automotive News Europe. 

 Volkswagen debuted its Tarok pickup truck concept at the Sao Paulo International Motor Show and confirmed that the company will produce the vehicle for Brazil. More at Motor Trend. 

+   The ex-Dean Jeffries Ford GT Roadster, one of five built and the only example to race at Le Mans, will be among the headliners at the Mecum Kissimmee auction. More at Hemmings Daily. 

+   IndyCar series management has denied claims by Rio de Janeiro mayor Marcelo Crivella that the series will return to Brazil for a street-course event in 2020. More at Racer.
