 The Mahindra Group, one of India’s largest automakers, is planning a 150,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Auburn Hills, just north of Detroit. More at The Detroit News. 

+   A consortium of automakers, mainly German, will open 20 ultra-fast electric vehicle charging stations this year and plans a pan-European network of 400 stations by 2020. More at Reuters. 

+   Retail gasoline prices are spiking throughout much of the U.S., especially the Midwest, mainly due to the lingering effects of Hurricane Harvey on petroleum production. More at USA Today. 

+   Indiana sprint car legend Bob Kinser, winner of more than 400 feature races and the father of fellow racing legend Steve Kinser, has passed away at 86. More at Racer. 

+   On a closed Nevada highway, a Koenigsegg Agera RS claimed the title of world’s fastest road car with a two-way speed of 277.9 mph and a maximum of 284.55 mph. More at Road & Track. 

 Spy photography has been captured of a camouflaged Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV, which is expected to boast a price tag of $400,000, testing in California. More at Motor Trend. 

 Lamborghini has released a teaser image of the all-electric supercar concept the carmaker is developing in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. More at Autoblog. 

+   Business was brisk at the annual Bonhams London to Brighton Veteran Car Run auction, which the auction house described as its largest ever. More at Classic Cars.com Journal. 

 With no top-flight rides available, 2003 NASCAR Winston Cup champion and two-time Daytona 500 winner Matt Kenseth announced he will sit out the 2018 season. More at ESPN. 

 In two separate actions, BMW is recalling about 1.4 million vehicles from the 2007 through 2011 model years to correct electrical defects that could cause an underhood fire. More at MLive.
