+   Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne is preparing a major production overhaul in Italy, dropping the low-cost Punto and MiTo for upscale models. More at Automotive News Europe. 

+   Raj Nair, the top Ford executive fired in February for “inappropriate behavior,” has been named president of Ontario-based Multimatic, producer of the Ford GT. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

 Chevrolet will offer a big 2.7-liter turbocharged four with 310 horsepower in the 2019 Silverado pickup, alongside optional 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8s and a six-cylinder inline diesel. More at CNET. 

+   In qualifying for next Sunday’s Indianapolis 500, Ed Carpenter scored his third career pole position, while popular Canadian James Hinchcliffe failed to make the show. More at the Los Angeles Times. 

+  German authorities have ordered the EU-wide recall of 60,000 diesel-powered Porsche Cayenne and Macan models after discovering emissions-defeat software on board. More at USA Today. 

+   Daimler will invest $589 million in a Hambach, France, plant to produce a Tesla-figthing Mercedes-Benz compact sedan, one of 10 new electric vehicles due by 2022. More at Autoblog. 

 A new exhibit at the Lane Motor Museum in Nashville called Eureka! Innovative Ideas That Were Ahead Of Their Time will feature the Dymaxion, Gyro-X, and other unique vehicles. More at Hemmings Daily. 

+   Charlotte Motor Speedway boss Marcus Smith has called for the use of a new NASCAR aero package in the Coca Cola 600 after it was tried successfully in the All-Star race. More at Motorsport.com 

+   The 2018 RM Sotheby’s Monaco auction generated $27.4 million in sales and a 72 percent sell-through rate, powered by a strong field of vintage Ferraris. More at Sports Car Digest. 

 The FIA, Formula 1’s regulatory body, is cracking down on the addition of aerodynamic winglets to rear view mirrors after they appeared on Ferrari’s racers at the Spanish Grand Prix. More at Racer.
