 In China, new vehicle sales declined for the 11th straight month, sliding 16.6 percent to 1.54 million units in April,  the China Passenger Car Association reported. More at Yahoo! Finance. 

+   Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will spend $2 billion in the next three years on so-called regulatory credits to reduce emission-related fines it will pay in Europe and the U.S. More at Automotive News Europe. 

+   China’s BAIC Group is seeking to buy a stake of up to 5 percent in Daimler AG to secure its investment in Chinese Mercedes-Benz joint venture Beijing Benz Automotive. More at Reuters. 

 Former NASCAR truck series team owner Mike Mittler, who provided rides for future stars Carl Edwards, Jamie McMurray, Brad Keselowski, and others, has died at 67. More at NBC Sports. 

 The Disney film Ford vs Ferrari, starring Matt Damon as Carroll Shelby and Christian Bale as Ken Miles, is scheduled for release on November 15, the studio announced.  More at Classic Cars.com Journal.

+  Dozens of vintage Chevrolets were destroyed in a fire on the set of an HBO miniseries in production at a former car dealership in Ellenville, New York, but no one was injured. More at Motor Trend. 

+  Spy photographers have captured images of the futuristic cabin of the 2020 Porsche Taycan in advance of the electric sports car’s official introduction in September. More at The Drive. 

 In the first day of public trading, shares in the ride-sharing service Uber closed at $41.57, nearly 7 percent below the IPO price of $45 while raising $8.1 billion. More at The Detroit News. 

 Early consignments at the RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction in August include a 1962 Ferrari 250GT Berlinetta with a presale estimate of $8 million to $10 million. More at Old Cars Weekly. 

+  Mercedes Formula 1 boss Toto Wolff says he has not considered leaving the team despite emerging as a potential candidate to succeed series CEO Chase Carey. More at Motorsport.com.
