Today’s Headlines: 

 Nissan will reintroduce body-on-frame construction on a rugged four-wheel drive SUV called the Terra to be manufactured and sold in the China market. More at Automotive News Europe. 

+   The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is investigating airbag failures on Hyundai Sonata and Kia Forte models that resulted in four fatalities and six injuries. More at The Detroit News. 

+   Ford has revived the California Special name from 1968 for a special edition of the 2019 Mustang GT with unique upholstery, wheels, trim, and badging. More at Car and Driver.  

+   Haas Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean hopes to race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year and rates his chances to drive a Stewart-Haas NASCAR entry at “50:50, I think so.” More at Racer. 

 The University of Waterloo in Ontario will partner with two Chinese institutes to perform research and development on autonomous vehicle technology and connectivity. More at CNBC. 

+   Instead of the T-Roc, Volkswagen will bring to the United States a compact SUV originally developed for the China market and known internally as the “Volks-SUV.” More at Motor Trend.

 Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus has selected the Nissan GT-R VR38DETT V6.rated at 690 horsepower for the SCG 004S supercar scheduled for production in 2020. More at Autoblog.
