+   A strike at supplier ZF-TRW is hampering production at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ Windsor Assembly Plant, which builds the Chrysler Pacifica and Dodge Caravan. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

 AMG chief Tobias Moers hinted that the Mercedes Project One hypercar could best the all-time Nürburgring lap record set 35 years ago by the Porsche 956 Group C racer. More at Motor Trend. 

+   German Chancellor Angela Merkel says the European Union nations should be exempted from the new U.S. steel and aluminum tariffs to ensure stable trade relations. More at Reuters. 

+   NASCAR Monster Cup driver Kevin Harvick criticized series leadership over the stiff penalties issued against his Stewart-Haas team for bodywork infractions at Las Vegas. More at NBC Sports. 

+   Porsche is joining Daimler, Volvo parent firm Geely, and Italdesign among the companies researching flying cars as a means to escape urban congestion. More at Automotive News Europe.

+   Rumors say The Grand Tour, the Amazon.com automotive program hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond, will not be renewed after season three. More at Motor 1. 

+   Best of Show honors at the 2018  Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance went to a 1963 Ferrari 250/275P and a 1929 Duesenberg J Murphy roadster. More at Hemmings Daily.

 Spy photos of the next-generation BMW 7 Series flagship sedan reveal a flat-screen instrument panel and the large, squared-off grille nostrils earlier seen on the X7 concept. More at Autoblog. 

+   As expected, the Volkswagen Beetle will be discontinued permanently when the current-generation model goes out of production, says company R&D chief Frank Welsch. More at Mashable.

+   Led by race winner Sebastien Bourdais, Honda drivers swept the podium and earned eight of the top 10 finishing positions at the IndyCar season opener in St. Petersburg. More at Racer.

  1. I’m sure that 1929 Duesenberg SJ is a fine automobile, though I’ve never driven one. Do I want to go 140mph in one? No. It would be a bit like going down Mt Everest on a Flexible Flyer.
