 The Ferrari Formula 1 team has notified the FIA that it intends to appeal the penalty that took away Sebastian Vettel’s victory at the Canadian Grand Prix. More at Motorsport.com. 

 Rivian founder and CEO R.J. Scaringe confirmed that the company’s upcoming electric pickup will feature vehicle-to-vehicle charging and auxiliary battery packs. More at Autoblog. 

 Gordon Murray, creator of the McLaren F1, has unveiled its spirtual successor, which is called the Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 and priced at $10 million per copy. More at Automobile. 

 A totally stock and restored 1970 Datsun 240Z with 33,000 miles sold for $124,240 on the web auction site Bring a Trailer, a possible online auction record. More at The Drive. 

+   German auto supplier ZF has an airbag system under development that anticipates collisions and deploys outside the vehicle, and could bring it to production in four years. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

+  The last Saab to roll off the production line in Trollhättan, a silver 9-3 Aero Turbo, will be offered at auction later this year by Saab’s successor company, NEVS of China. More at Classic Cars.com Journal. 

+   Legendary Jaguar engineering chief Norman Dewis, who played a key role in numerous Jaguar models from the XK-120 to the XJ6, has passed away at 98. More at Autocar.
