+   In advance of this week’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Ford has unveiled the 2018 F-150 pickup with revised styling and drivetrain combinations. More at The Detroit News. 

+   Volkswagen has rebooted its familiar microbus platform as a battery-electric vehicle concept called the I.D. Buzz with a reported range of 270 miles. More at USA Today. 

+   General Motors introduced the latest version of the GMC Terrain SUV with new sheet metal and an optional 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel. More at Autoblog. 

+   The British-based Manor Formula 1 team, which finished last in the 2016 constructor standings, is reportedly near collapse and has been placed in administration. More at Fox Sports. 

+   With 2.08 million units sold in 2016, an 11.3 percent increase, Mercedes-Benz is set to displace BMW as the world’s number-one luxury passenger car manufacturer. More at Reuters.

+   Kia has provided a first look at the Stinger GT, a 365-horsepower sports coupe intended to complete with the BMW 4 Series and slated for production in spring of 2018. More at Motor Trend. 

+   The 2017 Porsche GTS will boast a 450-horsepower turbo six ,a standard seven-speed manual gearbox, and prices starting at $119,000, the company announced. More at Road & Track.

+   A 1969 American Motors AMX/3 running prototype will be offered at the Gooding & Company Scottsdale auction on January 21-22. More at Hemmings Daily. 

+   Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced a $1 billion plan to expand its Warren, Michigan and Toledo, Ohio plants and confirmed new Jeep pickup and Wagoneer models. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

+   Four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon, who retired from full-time racing at the end of the 2015 Sprint Cup season, says he’s open to driving at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. More at Racer.

  1. The linked story on the AMX/3, especially the involvement of BMW, is quite interesting.

  2. My thoughts on a couple of items. First, FCA needs to expend a lot of time and effort on quality, where they remain near or at the bottom.

    That link now has a story that Ford is bringing back the Ranger and Bronco. The Ranger, in particular, should never have left. It was an error on Ford’s part they are late in redressing.
