+   Volkswagen has apologized for a 2014 industry test that deliberately exposed monkeys to diesel exhaust emissions, while Daimler has launched an investigation into the practice. More at Bloomberg.com. 

 Famed designer Giorgetto Giugiaro will unveil an electric sedan concept developed with the Chinese energy company Envision at next month’s Geneva Motor Show. More at Automotive News Europe.

+   Despite the limited hydrogen fueling infrastructure across the state, sales of the Toyota Mirai fuel-cell powered sedan have surpassed 3,000 units in California. More at Motor Trend. 

 A Ford Model A roadster built by Scott Bonowski for architect David C. Martin won the AMBR (America’s Most Beautiful Roadster) Award at the 2018 Grand National Roadster Show. More at Autoweek. 

 Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton says his three top rivals in 2018 will be Fernando Alonso of McLaren, Sebastien Vettel of Ferrari, and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. More at Motorsport.com.

+   Uwe Michael, Porsche’s head of electronics development, says the Mission E electric sports car will use an 800-volt system based on the one in the automaker’s Le Mans racer. More at Autoblog.

 U.S. lawmakers visiting the NAFTA talks in Montreal expressed optimism that efforts to update the trade pact would avoid collapse and start to regain momentum. More at Reuters.

+   A new study from the AAA found that while reservations remain, more American drivers are warming to the idea of sharing the road with autonomous vehicles. More at Road & Track.

+   A supplier to the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Jeep plant in Toledo has notified the state it will temporarily lay off as many as 572 workers due to a model changeover. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

+   A custom aero-bodied 1935 MG PA once owned by Miles Collier will headline a  vintage MG category at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance in March. More at Hemmings Daily. 

+   Penske driver Brad Keselowski says he hopes NASCAR’s new Hawkeye technical inspection system will level the playing field and make Ford more competitive in 2018. More at Racer.
