+   Swiss consumer protection organization SKS has filed a claim on behalf of some 6,000 car owners seeking damages related to VW’s diesel emissions scandal. More at Automotive News Europe. 

+   General Motors has been granted a patent for an airbag device attached to a vehicle’s exterior that is designed to protect pedestrians in an impact. More at the Detroit Free Press.

+   Federal safety officials are investigating to determine if a Ford pickup transmission recall should be widened to include more than a million additional vehicles. More at USA Today. 

 Southern California’s Irwindale Speedway and Irwindale Drag Strip announced the facility will remain open under a multi-year agreement with a new management group. More at Racer. 

+   Spy photographers have captured a camouflaged version of the twin-turbo V8-powered Mercedes AMG GT4 sports sedan in winter road testing. More at Motor Trend.

+   KeyBanc Capital Markets has slashed its fourth-quarter forecast for Tesla 3 deliveries by 70 percent, predicting that production targets will take several more quarters to achieve. More at CNBC. 

+   Inadvertently leaked service information indicates that the upcoming 2019 Shelby Mustang GT500 with supercharged V8 power will have a top speed in excess of 200 mph. More at Road & Track. 

+   Despite the company’s diesel emissions cheating troubles, Volkswagen expects its production volume totals for 2017 to reach the six-million vehicles mark. More at Automobile. 

+   Shelby vehicles crossing the block at the 2018 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction will include a 1966 Cobra roadster (CSX3239) with a fresh repaint and just 18,000 miles. More at Classic Cars.com Journal. 

 After 10 years as the official beer of NASCAR, Coors Light has terminated its relationship with the series for the 2018 season, including its sponsorship of pole awards. More at Sporting News.

  1. The pedestrian airbag concept has been around for a while. Volvo has done much work on it. It will be interesting to see what GM has brought to the game.

  2. The proliferation of Cobra replicas does not seem to have stunted the price of the real ones. If anything, the originals are holding up the price of the replicas.
