+   China’s SAIC Motor announced it will begin sales of MG vehicles in mainland Europe starting at the end of 2019, led by the MG ZS subcompact SUV. More at Automotive News Europe. 

+   A federal judge in Detroit sentenced Volkswagen to three years’ probation and independent oversight as part of a $4.3 billion settlement announced in January in the Dieselgate scandal. More at Reuters.

+   General Motors plans to launch 10 electric and gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles in China by 2020,  reports Matt Tsien, president of GM China. More at The Detroit News. 

+   The refreshed 2018 Subaru WRX with improved suspension and steering will go on sale this spring with a starting price of $27,855, up $340 from last year. More at Automobile. 

+   McLaren executive director Zak Brown says he would like to see the Formula 1 team “competing at Indianapolis every year”, after Fernando Alonso’s upcoming Indy 500 debut. More at Autosport. 

+   Apple recently received a permit to test autonomous cars in California, but unlike vehicles from Waymo and Google, the Apple cars will be equipped with steering wheels and pedals. More at Motor Trend. 

+   At the Shanghai Auto Show Jeep unveiled the Yuntu SUV Concept, a three-row crossover with a plug-in hybrid powertrain exclusively for the China market. More at Autoblog. 

+   A new book on the VW diesel emissions scandal by New York Times reporter Jack Ewing asserts that an Auburn Hills VW executive was a whistleblower on the case. More at Crain’s Detroit Business. 

+   Ferrari’s 70th anniversary and game-changing racing cars of all makes will be the featured themes of the Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 29-July 2. More at Classic Cars.com. 

+   Formula 1’s new motorsport managing director Ross Brawn says he could not work with Bernie Ecclestone, but he has denied making that a condition of taking on the role. More at the UK Independent.
