2018 Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival and Parade

Labor Day Weekend signals the end of summer and time for one of our favorite old car events of the year: the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival in Auburn, Indiana. Here’s our report on this year’s awesome show.

The annual Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival in Auburn, Indiana is one of the oldest and most venerated events of the classic car world, dating all the way back to 1954. And it remains among the greatest and most important shows around, too, with multiple collector car auctions, a swap meet nearly the size of Woodstock, and a full slate of activities all focused on Auburn, Cord, and Duesenberg, the city’s hometown marques.

Festival events are clustered around two locations: the museum district just south of downtown, which back in the day was the Auburn auto factory complex, and the sprawling RM Sotheby’s facility (formerly operated under the company’s Auctions America banner) one exit south of town on Interstate 69. For the complete details on all the attractions around Auburn including a schedule, map, travel and lodging info, and so forth, visit the city’s official ACD Festival website. Info on the RM Sotheby’s auction, swap meet, and happenings around the auction complex can be found at the RM Sotheby’s official event website.

As we say every year in our coverage at Mac’s Motor City Garage, our favorite events of the weekend include the Festival Parade through downtown Auburn on Saturday, along with the mustering of vehicles for the parade on Saturday morning in Eckhart Park, just a short walk east of the museums. The 2018 edition of the Festival was celebrated as The Year of the Speedster, and there was a jaw-dropping assortment of the racy Auburn sports models in a special area near the front gate at Eckhart Park. Naturally, the full complement of Duesenbergs and Cords were also on hand, along with an armada of Auburn vehicles, from the everyday to the exotic.
