Video: The Fifteen Millionth Ford Model T, Part 4

Here’s the fourth and final episode of The Fifteen Millionth Ford Model T, entitled “The End of an Era.”

Now that we’ve seen the fourth and final chapter of The Fifteen Millionth Ford Model T, we’re a little down. It’s sad but satisfying, like watching the finale of a favorite movie or TV franchise. It’s been that good, speaking for those of us with a passion for automotive history.

As the title suggests, this episode is focused on the final day of the Model T Ford, May 26, 1927. And the car that was enshrined into history that day, a 1927 Ford Touring in Highland Green with black fenders and wheels and a nickel-plated radiator shell, is still owned and carefully preserved by The Henry Ford in Dearborn, exactly as it was when it rolled off the assembly line.

The car that put the nation on wheels, the Model T was the perfect first car for millions of Americans. But for their second cars they demanded more, so the Model T’s time was over. In the film, historian Bob Casey offers a remarkable insight: On the day the Model T was discontinued, Henry Ford was recognizing that the world as he had known it for nearly 20 years was coming to an end.

Thanks to the Historic Vehicle Association, in partnership with Hagerty Insurance and The Henry Ford, for a truly noteworthy contribution to automotive history. (You can see part one of the series here and parts two and three here.) Video below.
