As the 2020 C8 Corvette enters the enthusiast world, we learn more of its impressive engineering features every day. Here, with the help of a cutaway display, we find out a few more.
When the Corvette engineering team completed their work on the innovative 2020 mid-engine C8, they were proud enough of their work to provide a full-sized cutaway model so that auto journalists could behold all its fantastic inner workings. Bloggers and YouTubers from all over have made use of the display in their presentations, but we especially liked this one from the interweb’s preeminent techno-geek, Jason Fenske of Engineering Explained. In his video, he explores five intriguing questions about the eighth-gen Corvette:
+ The reasons for Brake-By-Wire
+ Why the brake system strategy sacrifices stopping distance for rear grip
+ How understeer was employed to make the package more driver-friendly
+ How a pushrod V8 is a proper choice for a 21st century sports car.
+ Why All-Season tires were selected as standard
A number of observers have commented upon these interesting choices, but here Fenske takes the time to completely flesh them out. Enjoy the video.
I understand why they built in so much understeer. I just don’t agree.
