This original Ford sales film provides a fascinating look at the all-new 1949 model line. Check it out.
Introduced on June 18, 1948 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York, the all-new 1949 Ford was a critical product for the automaker. And while the ’49 had more than its share of development bugs, the revolutionary design successfully charted a new course for the Dearborn automaker under the confident leadership of Henry Ford II.
This little film was produced, of course, to give new car buyers a detailed look at all the available body styles and features for 1949. Which makes it perfect for us in 2014, too. We’re treated to great glimpses of the ’49 models: sporty convertible, all-metal two-door wagon, business coupe. It’s entertaining and informative, have a look.
So refreshing seeing ads that portray plausible driving situations, as opposed to cars jumping on top of trains (do not attempt) or drifting around corners in downtown settings with no other cars around.
Cool video. Interesting that the car in the jewelry box was a grey four door sedan instead of something more flashy, such as a convertible. I guess they knew where their bread was buttered.
Makes me want a 49 Ford! A coupe, convertible, or wagon will do! With a powerfull V8, of course!
