This driver training film is over 50 years old, but the advice on winter driving is still amazingly solid today. Watch and be impressed—and maybe get a little education, too.
MCG was watching this old driver’s ed film about driving in snow and ice, mainly to check out all the neat vintage cars in action, when gradually it became evident just how darn good it is. This is sound, thorough instruction on cold-weather driving. Frankly, we don’t remember when last we saw a modern video on the subject that is this simple, clear, and complete.
Maybe we’re spoiled, have it too easy, take cold-weather driving for granted today. After all, now we have front-wheel and all-wheel drive, traction control, antilock brakes, all-weather tires—and better roads, too. This film was made back when driving on snow and ice was tricky and serious business, and the information is dealt out accordingly. (When was the last time you installed chains?) We found the movie well worth the time, and we think you will, too. Oh, and there are plenty of neat old cars, too.
Did anyone notice the stuck Stude had a ’55 Ford steering wheel & dashboard?
