Video: Cruising Hollywood Boulevard in 1965

1965Here’s a real treat, fellow classic car spotters: a cruise down Hollywood Boulevard circa 1965. How many awesome ’50s and ’60s cars can you identify?

Okay. First, you’re going to crack a smile as soon as you hear the Austin Powers-style musical score some inspired film editor matched up to this old Hollywood stock footage. Well done, sir or ma’am. That was fun.

This clip is similar, sort of, to the video we ran back in January 2015 that featured a westward cruise on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles in 1963. Except here we’re a few miles northeast on Hollywood Boulevard, and now it’s 1965. Our jaunt starts at around Hollywood and Wilcox, with the famous Warner Brothers Theater (now the Hollywood Pacific Theater) on the left, and then heads a few blocks east along the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Along the way we see a fine old Jaguar sedan, an E-Type coupe in gunmetal gray, a choice ’55 Buick two-door post, a Mercury Breezeway, and a handful of rare European imports, among others. How many neat cars can you identify? Video below.

  1. Lots of interesting cars, many then old bombs! I saw no Jags, did see numerous Chevs and Falcons and a 62 Valiant . And the red and white Buick Post, of which I have never seen,,, at least here in South Oz where there are quite a few of them. A I think a 403 Pug convert and a I think Sunbeam Alpine. And a Jeep!

  2. Newest vehicle I saw was a 1963. Lots of 50’s models still on the road, about 10 years old by then I guess. What was the blue coupe making the left turn?
