This vintage documentary captures the world of drag racing circa 1973 with racing action and rare interviews of Jungle Jim Liberman and Shirley Muldowney. Have a look.
Filmed at an AHRA Grand American Series event at New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire, this little 15-minute documentary is a perfect snapshot of drag racing in 1973. The condition of the film isn’t great, merely decent, but the production values are excellent. And it does feature priceless interviews of Jungle Jim Liberman and Shirley Muldowney (when she was still in a funny car, note) and plenty of fascinating early ’70s drag racing action.
Many veterans of the sport consider this period to be a golden age of drag racing, and in watching Burn On, you may be persuaded as well. Enjoy the film.
Awesome!
Golden age indeed. Long before the corporate big bucks and teams struggled just to make it to the next race. I saw a few shows at Epping in the early 70’s, might even have been at this one. Good times.
