The next Corvette will be unveiled to the world at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 13, 2013. Until then, the Chevrolet people intend to jerk our chains big time.
Why? Because they can. That’s why.
The corporation has already done a comprehensive reveal on the next Corvette’s Gen 5 engine. You can see all the in-depth Mac’s Motor City Garage coverage of the latest Chevy V8 here and here.
However, the company has been considerably more coy about the car itself thus far. For example, it has revealed the latest version of the Corvette’s crossed-flags emblem. And then there’s this pair of videos, see below, which go well out of their way in showing us not much at all about the latest Corvette. The first video was released on October 22, the second on November 15.
So tell us: How does all this make you feel? Aroused? Annoyed? The next video in the strip-tease series is scheduled for November 29.

Other than a few factory customs, no Corvette has ever really appealed to me. Will this be the first?
I doubt anything will be quite as radical as some of the concept drawings they flash, but in my estimation they’ve been going in the right direction since the C4 and C5 which were not my cup of tea. I do look forward to January.
