This morning’s CarTune is one of the great songs from the rockfather of us all. Here’s Chuck Berry with “You Can’t Catch Me.”
This video is a clip from the 1956 teen movie, Rock, Rock, Rock, which also features LaVern Baker, the Moonglows, and Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers. The flick’s lead role was played by 13 year-old Tuesday Weld, with her singing parts performed by the 18 year-old Connie Francis.
That’s prototype rock jock Alan Freed you see introducing Berry, who then performs an obvious lip-sync of the single:
I bought a brand new airmobile
It was custom made
It was a Flight deVille
With an powerful motor
And some hideaway wings
Push in on the button and you can hear her sing
It’s too bad this isn’t a real, live musical performance, because we don’t get to see the barrelhouse piano (Otis Spann? Johnnie Johnson?) that is the song’s engine. But it’s cool, because we do get to watch the father of rock and roll break out a few of his signature stage moves, including the duckwalk. Enjoy.

I’m told the video is blocked abroad, so here is another version for these locales.
Thank you very much for sharing …I enjoyed this to the fullest…plus it gave me information to people and places in my life…that was somewhat a mystery from my lack of knowledge….once again thank you…BARBARA
