In advance of his upcoming concert video, Rockabilly Riot: Osaka Rocka, Brian Setzer has dropped a new live version of his high-octane rocker, “Drive Like Lightning.” Enjoy.
Hot rods and rockabilly suit each other like peanut butter and jelly, as guitarist and singer-songwriter Brian Setzer often demonstrates. Car themes abound in his hard-rocking repertoire—take for example “Drive Like Lightning,” which first appeared on the 2000 Brian Setzer Orchestra album, Vavoom! It’s no pose. Setzer is a real-deal old-school hot rodder whose personal vehicle collection includes a Harley bobber and the tasty ’32 Ford five-window shown above. And meanwhile, Gretsch offers a Brian Setzer signature guitar built to his specifications, a classic hollow-body job he calls the Hot Rod.
In advance of his new concert video coming November 4, Rockabilly Riot: Osaka Rocka—Live in Japan, Setzer has released a new live performance of “Drive Like Lightning.” Needless to say, this most recent version features all the high-octane concert energy and blazing guitar work Setzer is known for. If you’ve never has the opportunity to see him perform live, this clip provides a rough approximation, sort of. Video below.
I would love to hear a duet with Brian Setzer and Junior Brown..
