Coming next Sunday, Father’s Day: One of America’s great classic car shows in support of a wonderful cause, the annual EyesOn Design Automotive Exhibition. From this week’s media preview, here’s a full report.
This coming Sunday is Father’s Day, and time once again for a proud Motor City tradition: the EyesOn Design Automotive Design Exhibition at the beautiful Edsel and Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Point Shores. The show, which once again benefits a truly worthy cause, the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology, features more than 300 classic vehicles of every kind.
The EyesOn Design show, which this year celebrates its 30th anniversary, was originally organized by the Motor City’s automotive design community, which gives the event a special flavor you won’t find in any other major show. Here, the focus is on automotive design, and the exhibition categories are structured to showcase the trends and themes in design over the years. Here are just a few of the special show categories this year:
+ Rumbleseat Roadsters and Convertible Coupes: Pre-WWII Top-Down Motoring
+ Bathtubs: Teardrop Styling (after World War II)
+ The Good Life: Limousines 1938-1976
+ Postwar British Roadsters
+ GM Pony Cars Turn 50
+ Classic British Motorcycles
And many, many more—dozens of theme groups, in fact. Additionally, this year’s show features a blockbuster category of Lincoln automobiles that will include three entire classes of historic Lincolns and Continentals. Experts call EyesOn Design one of the top classic car shows in the country, and we agree. Children, take your fathers to this awesome event. Fathers, take you children. Meanwhile, a very small sample of vehicles from the media preview are included below. See you there.

This has been a family tradition for many years. Definitely one of my favorite events anywhere. I’ll be there with a car but, even more importantly, our two daughters. Even if you’re not local to Detroit, it’s worth traveling to.
See you there Myron!
I started attending Eyes On Design on your recommendation and last year I was honored to show a car there. Thank you!
