More from the 2013 St. John’s Concours: the racers

Capping off MCG’s coverage of the 2013 Concours d’Elegance of America: a big gallery of vintage racecars.

The racers at St. John’s this year were clustered among several groups on the lawn:

+   A feature category just for historic stock car racers called VIntage NASCAR, naturally enough, including cars from 1953 to 1972. Two standouts here were Doug Schellinger’s 1970 Superbird and the ex-Junior Johnson 1963 Impala owned by RK Motors.

+   The Great Race, a feature category for cars prepared especially for the annual vintage rallying event of the same name. Since the cars compete on public highways alongside modern vehicles, considerable license is taken with authenticity for the sake of safety and performance. Still, they’re fun to look over all the same.

+   Racing Through the Ages, a show category that this year included a Brass-Age Fiat and a Porsche 906.

Additionally, a few more racers were found in this year’s huge Porsche 911 display, including an awesome ex-Brumos 934.5. Gallery below.
