The promoters of the Syracuse Nationals bill the event as “the largest car happening on the right coast.” Absolute claims are always tricky but the show is enormous, no doubt about that. It’s hard to recall a bigger one at the moment.
The event’s all-encompassing format is both its great strength and the source of some criticism. You’ll hear the street rod crowd griping, “what are all these muscle cars doing here?” And the 100-point restoration crowd looks at the rat rod scene with one raised eyebrow. And so on.
But if you’re like us here at Motor City Garage, you love them all. If it’s got four wheels (or two or six or 18, whatever) you want to see it. In that case, Syracuse is your kind of car show. Here you’ll see street rods, muscle cars, off-roaders, classics, and (often our favorites) vehicles that defy formal classification. Here’s another slide show below:
