Mopar previews its 2012 SEMA show car fleet

Mopar has unveiled a few of the 24 custom machines it will have on display at the SEMA show in Las Vegas October 30–November 2, 2012.

For the Detroit Three and their racing, performance, and accessory divisions, the annual SEMA (that’s Specialty Equipment Market Association) show is a very big deal. The automakers each spend millions of dollars building eye-grabbing custom cars and displays, all the better to impress the tens of thousands of performance industry professionals trodding the floor of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Naturally, the automakers can’t and don’t do all this work in-house. There’s plenty of spillover. As a result, the scores of specialty automotive shops that service the industry, in the Motor City and elsewhere, are jammed up solid for weeks, even months, prepping cars for the show.

For many of these businesses, this is the most hectic—and the most lucrative—time of the year. So if the folks at your favorite shop haven’t been answering the phone lately, now you know why. They’re probably pulling 20-hour days. In the biz this is known as the SEMA Crunch.

This past week, Chrysler’s Mopar brand supplied the media with a sneak peek of a few of the 24 customized vehicles the company will have on display at SEMA in 2012. Check them out in the gallery below. You’ll also see Brian Rogos, Mark Trostle, and CEO Pietro Gorlier of the Mopar brand showing off some of their creations.
