+   Stellantis is recalling nearly 1.5 million 2019 and 2021-24 Ram pickups worldwide to correct a software defect that could disable their electronic stability control systems. More at U.S. News and World Report. 

 The Japanese government is investing $2.4 billion in subsidies for EV battery production, backing 12 major projects by industry leaders Toyota, Nissan, and Panasonic. More at CBT News. 

 According to a study by National Business Capital, the best states to own and operate a vehicle in 2024 include, in order, Vermont, Ohio, Minnesota, and Delawate. More at Autoblog. 

+   All but two NASCAR Cup teams have signed new charter contracts for 2025-31, with Michael Jordan’s 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports holding out for more negotiations. More at Fox Sports. 

 +   A bipartisan group of House lawmakers has asked the CEOs of six major auto parts retailers if they bought products from a Chinese company that may have evaded U.S. tariffs. More at World Auto Forum. 

  Angry that his truck was being towed, a New York City man commandeered the tow truck and drove away, damaging his own vehicle, stopping traffic, and damaging more vehicles. More at The Drive. 

 Toyota and BMW jointly announced that they will collaborate on a next-generation hydrogen fuel-cell powertrain to be used in future-production Toyota and BMW models. More at Autoweek. 

+   Automakers are rushing back into advertising during National Football League television broadcasts after a slowdown in recent years, led by GM, Toyota, and Hyundai. More at CNBC. 

 The Worldwide Auctioneers annual Auburn sale reported $25 million in total sales and a 90 percent sell-through rate, led by a 1932 Auburn Boattail that brought $1.02 million. More at Old Cars. 

 Ferrari and Haas Formula 1 reserve driver Oliver Bearman, 19, will fill in at Haas for Kevin Magnussen, who was suspended for one race, at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. More at ESPN.

  1. I never liked Auburn Boattails but apparently I’ve only seen 1936 models; I thought they looked plump. That ’32 is a doozy! (pun intended) I’m wondering if chrome wheels were common. I don’t recall another instance and think the car would look better with painted wires and blackwalls.
