 According to reports, Stellantis is searching for a successor to CEO Carlos Tavares, but chair John Elkann says the move is not related to the company’s recent troubles. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

 Nissan Motor will buy back  around 195.5 million of its shares from Renault SA, worth $551 million, as part of an agreement to rebalance its alliance with the French carmaker. More at The Detroit News. 

+   EV sales in the U.S. are expected to rise 8 percent in the third quarter of 2024 over the same period last year, while vehicle sales overall slip 5.4 percent, according to Cox Automotive. More at Autoweek. 

+   Veteran Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo has been released by the RB Formula 1 team effective immediately, to be replaced by 22 year-old Red Bull junior driver Liam Lawson. More at ESPN. 

 Internet content creator Nathan Narra, known to YouTube subscribers as NateNation, was killed in a single-car rollover crash of a C8 Corvette in suburban Detroit. More at Road & Track. 

+   Liquidators of the electric vehicle unit of debt-laden China Evergrande are still in talks with a potential buyer to take a stake in the company and provide a new credit line. More at Reuters. 

+   Jeep plans to investigate traditional hybrid powertrains as a lower-cost alternative to plug-in hybrid and electric powertrains, according to Jeep brand executive Matthew Nyquist. More at Motor Authority. 

 Ford has averted a potential strike at its Dearborn Tool and Die plant upon reaching a tentative agreement with the United Auto Workers Local 600, representing around 600 workers. More at CBT News. 

 Toyota has increased its share buyback plan through April 30 to up to $8.31 billion in response to its declining share price, which has fallen 27 percent since May of this year. More at Investing.com. 

+   The rare vintage motorcycles on offer at the Bonhams|Cars Autumn Stafford, UK sale on October 12-13 will include a 1938 Brough-Superior SS100 and a 1913 Flying Merkel. More at Old Cars.

 IndyCar driver Alexander Rossi, who won the 2016 Indy 500 as a rookie, will move from Arrow McLaren to Ed Carpenter Racing in 2025, where he will team with Christian Rasmussen. More at Racer.
