Today’s headlines: 

 Robert Bosch GmbH will cut about 13,000 additional jobs as rising competition and a sluggish European new vehicle market push the manufacturer into deeper restructuring. More at The Detroit News. 

 EV maker Tesla urged the Trump administration not to repeal vehicle emissions standards or the U.S. finding that greenhouse gas emissions endanger human health. More at U.S. News & World Report. 

+   In yet another Ford recall, the automaker is recalling more than 115,500 Super Duty pickups to correct a steering column defect that could cause sudden loss of vehicle control. More at Autoblog. 

 NASCAR is considering modifications to its complicated and controversial Cup playoffs system for 2026, which could include a return to a traditional full-season contest. More at ESPN. 

+   In August, Chinese EV maker BYD outsold Tesla in the European Union for the second month in a row, selling three times as many cars as in the same period last year. More at Yahoo!  Finance. 

+   The share price of CarMax declined more than 20 percent this week after the used auto retail network missed Wall Street’s quarterly earnings and revenue expectations. More at CNBC. 

+   Ford is reportedly developing a hybrid version of the current-generation S650 Mustang now code-named the S650E, but a production version is yet to be confirmed. More at Car and Driver. 

 Only one straight gasoline engine made this year’s Wards Auto’s Best Engines and Propulsion Systems top 10 list: the twin-turbo LT7 V8 offered in the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. More at The Drive. 

+   Bonhams|Cars will return to Newport, Rhode Island on October 3 for The Audrain Auction to offer a select group of classic European and American collector vehicles. More at Old Cars. 

 Former Team Penske managing director Ron Ruzewski, released by the team in May, has joined Andretti Global as team principal of its IndyCar and Indy NXT teams. More at Racer.

  1. The NHTSA recall report# 25V626 is prolly one of the most pathetic government documents I’ve ever read. For almost two model years 2020-2021, it reads like nobody ever inspected any steering column shafts installed in Ford F250, F350 & F450 Super Duty trucks.

    Any conspiracy theorist starting to notice a dark pattern yet? Could this man-made disaster somehow be related obviously unorganic government push of autonomouse vehicles down our throats? Just like the Ohio Department of Transportation routinely cooking the books on traffic signal warrant studies to justify federally funded roundabouts and ODOT’s world famous blatantly defective US68 truck detour, it’s always the driver’s fault now…
