+   Storied British carmaker Aston Martin is set to become title sponsor of the Red Bull Formula 1 team next season, sources with inside knowledge of the deal have revealed. More at Sports Business Daily. 

+   Renault-Nissan pledged to double its savings on shared vehicle architecture to $11.9 billion by 2022, partly through closer cooperation with junior partner Mitsubishi Motors. More at Reuters. 

+   Pierre Leclercq, formerly of BMW’s M division and Great Wall, will join Kia as Head of Styling, a newly created role focused on long-term design strategy. More at Auto & Design. 

+   At the IndyCar season finale in Sonoma, freshman Penske driver Josef Newgarden sewed up the 2017 championship, while teammate Simon Pagenaud won the race. More at NBC Sports.

+   Ford has pledged $5 million to the American Center for Mobility at Willow Run, Michigan, matching a similar amount provided by Toyota to the self-driving research facility. More at The Detroit News. 

+   The Mecum Dallas 2017 auction at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center generated $22.2 million in total sales and a 70 percent sell-through rate. More at Sports Car Digest. 

+   Workers at Unifor Local 88, the Canadian union representing employees at the General Motors Ingersoll, Ontario plant, are threatening a strike over shop and wage issues. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

+   NASCAR Modified legend Ted Christopher, 59, was was one of two people killed when a small plane crashed in the woods in Connecticut, government authorities reported. More at USA Today.

  1. I just don’t see the attraction to self driving cars. A big part of the enjoyment of the automobile is driving it. And I’ve seen too many electronic gizmos self destruct or go haywire to trust one or more driving me around. I stick to driving myself as long as I can…
