 The European Union’s investigation into subsidies for China-made electric vehicles  exported to Europe could do more harm than good, says BMW chief financial officer Walter Mertl. More at Reuters.

 United Auto Workers president Shawn Fain claimed an important concession from General Motors as the automaker agreed to bring battery plants into the union’s Master Agreement. More at CBT News. 

 The BBC has denied reports that its popular program Top Gear, on hiatus for 10 months following a serious crash by presenter Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff, is slated to be cancelled. More at  The Drive. 

With six races still left in the 2023 seaso, Red Bull driver Max Verstappen wrapped up his third consecutive world drivers title in a Saturday sprint race at the Qatar Grand Prix. More at ESPN. 

+   Rolls-Royce chief executive Torsten Muller-Otvos, who oversaw a six-fold increase in the storied British automaker’s sales and production, will retire on December 1 after 14 years. More at CNBC.

+   Originally scheduled for a 2023 launch, the Mercedes-AMG GT63 SE Hybrid will arrive in dealerships in the USA with 831 hp and a restyled front end sometime in the 2024 model year, More at Car and Driver.

 The auto battery parts joint venture between Volkswagen’s PowerCo and Belgian materials firm Umicore has chosen Poland as the site for its first factory, PowerCo announced. More at World Auto Forum. 

 Tesla has cut the price of the best-selling Model Y by $2,000 and Model 3 by $1,250 as the electric vehicle maker takes aim at its ambitous sales goal of 1.8 million vehicles in 2023. More at Autoblog. 

 Toyota has launched a Crown Sport compact crossover with a choice of hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrains for Japan, but there is no word yet on a possible U.S. introduction. More at  Motor Authority. 

 Daytona 500 winner and 2022 NASCAR Cup rookie of the yaer Austin Cindric confirmed that he will return with Team Penske to drive the no. 2 Ford Mustang in 2024. More at Yahoo! Sports.

  1. If Tesla gets out from under Elon so they can stop announcing forthcoming models as soon as the styling’s approved, pick up their worst-in-the-industry quality and stop dangling “Full Self-Driving (Beta)”, maybe even go to more physical controls – it’ll be unstoppable.

    As it is, his underlings have figured out to give him the best option as the second one presented to him since that’s the one he always picks.
