Today’s Headlines:

+   General Motors will unveil its new GMC Hummer electric truck during the television broadcast of the Major League Baseball World Series Game 1 on October 20. More at The Detroit News. 

+   An estimated 32,000 Ford salaried employees throughout North America will continue to work from home through June of next year, a company official confirmed. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

+   With sales stuck in the 4,000-per-year range, Toyota will reportedly discontinue the Land Cruiser in the United States after 2021, although its Lexus LX sibling will continue. More at The Drive. 

+   NASCAR veteran Clint Bowyer announced that he will retire from the no. 14 Stewart-Haas Ford at the end of this year and join the Fox Sports NASCAR broadcasting team. More at Jayski.  

+   Mazda confirmed that the MX-30 hybrid crossover due to arrive on Japanese roaads in 2022 will use the automaker’s trademark rotary engine as a range extender. More at Autoblog. 

 BMW chief financial officer Nicolas Peter says that Britain’s exit from the European Union could cost the car industry up to 11 billion euros unless trade deals can be established. More at Reuters. 

 Two new electric cars, the Volvo XC40 Recharge and the Volvo-affiliated Polestar 2, have recorded disappointing EPA range ratings of 208 and 233 miles, respectively. More at Car and Driver.

 The annual Bonhams Philadelphia auction on October 11 will feature a number of barn finds, including a 1935 Mercedes-Benz, a 1930 Cadillac, and a 1914 Detroit Electric. More at Classic Cars.com Journal. 

 According to GM insiders, the automaker is working on a C8 Corvette E-Ray hybrid that would replace the Grand Sport, featuring all-wheel drive via an electric front axle. More at Motor Trend. 

+   Four-time Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel, who leaves Ferrari at the end of 2020 to drive for the Aston Martin team, has purchased shares in the British carmaker. More at Racer.
