+   Profits at Ford Motor Company tumbled 37 percent in the third quarter, which the company attributed to to plummeting sales in China and severe steel tariffs at home. More at The Detroit News.

+   China’s state-owned automaker FAW Group has signed a deal with 16 banks for a credit line of than 1 trillion yuan ($144 billion), signaling strong government backing. More at Reuters.

 Team Penske has revamped its management assignments, with veteran engineer Ron Ruzewski promoted to general manager under current president Tim Cindric. More at Racer.

+   Cadillac president Steve Carlisle says the General Motors division will unveil a master brand strategy in the first quarter of 2019 to support the new products coming to market. More at Autoblog.

+   Shares in Tesla Inc. jumped by more than 12 percent following a surprisingly strong third quarter financial report with earnings of $2.90 per share rather than an expected loss. More at CNBC.

  At the Nürburgring Nordschleife, a Mercedes-Benz four-door AMG GT 63 S has set a provisional lap record for four-passenger vehicles at 7:25:41 minutes. More at Motor Trend. 

 IndyCar driver Robert Wickens has publicly confirmed that he is paralyzed from the waist down as a result of spinal cord injuries he received in a crash at Pocono. More at ESPN. 

+   Ford has separated its China and Asia divisions and selected Anning Chen to serve as president and CEO of Ford of China, which will report directly to Dearborn. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

+   Following the trend established by the Jaguar E-Type Zero, a British firm will produce electric versions of the MGB roadster and Jaguar C-Type and XKSS. More at Hemmings Daily. 

 Mexican Grand Prix stewards have given Mercedes the green light to use its controversial new wheel design during the upcoming Formula 1 race weekend. More at Motorsport.com
