+  Spy photographers captured a number of clear images of Ford’s Mustang-styled battery-electric crossover, which is scheduled for official introduction later this month. More at Autoblog.  

 General Motors is selling its shuttered Lordstown, Ohio assembly plant to a company aligned with Workhouse Group, an Ohio-based electric truck startup. More at Bloomberg.com. 

+   The Justice Department has issued subpoenas to the four automakers who aligned with the state of California against the Trump administration on emissions regulations. More at Reuters.

+   Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Energy Systems Network have established a $1 million prize competition for a self-driving Indy Lights race on the 2.5-mile oval in 2021. More at Racer. 

 Toyota reported a 14 percent increase to $6.14 billion in operating profits for its fiscal second quarter, scoring a 2.5 percent bump in sales to 2.75 million vehicles for the period. More at Automotive News Europe. 

+   Dodge will build 50 copies of its 2020 Challenger Drag Pak racer, which is equipped with a supercharged 354 CID V8 and capable of 7-second quarter-mile times. More at The Drive. 

+   Another United Auto Workers official has been indicted in the widening federal corruption probe: Joe Ashton, a retired union VP and General Motors board member. More at The Detroit News.

+   At the SEMA trade show in Las Vegas, GM announced its 0-60 mph times for the 2020 mid-engine Corvette: 3.0 seconds for the base model and 2.9 for the Z51 package. More at The Drive. 

+   Mecum Auctions’ annual Chicagoland auction generated $18.3 million in sales on 730 vehicles and sell-through rate of nearly 80 percent, the company reported. More at Classic Cars.com Journal.

 Europe’s DTM touring car series has proposed a “revolutionary” new support series for 1,000-horsepower battery and fuel-cell racers capable of more than 200 mph. More at Motorsport.com.
