+   Future BMW buyers should be able to order a vehicle directly from the manufacturer with no need to involve a car dealer, BMW finance chief Nicolas Peter told a Munich newspaper. More at Reuters. 

Share prices of used-car retailer Carvana fell after the company reported a greater than expected loss of $182 million for the quarter, stating that high car prices are hurting sales. More at MarketWatch.  

 The U.S. federal government has arrested 21 people in five states and is seeking $545 million in civil forfeitures for what it alleges is a massive catalytic converter theft ring. More at The Drive.

+   Legendary Ferrari designer Mauro Forghieri, who oversaw four Formula 1 drivers’ championships and seven constructors’ titles in his 27 years there, has died at the age of 87. More at BBC Sport. 

 Stellantis is warning owners of 276,000 older Dodges and Chryslers to stop driving them after Takata air bags apparently exploded in three more vehicles, killing the drivers. More at The Detroit News. 

 Ford’s U.S. sales for October fell by 10 percent, the second straight month of decline, as the automaker battled through supply chain issues that delayed shipments to dealers. More at CNBC. 

 The IndyCar organization has rebranded the junior Indy Lights series as the INDY NXT by Firestone (pronounced next) with Firestone supplying tires and title sponsorship. More at IndyStar. 

 Toyota is reportedly planning to raise its prices in the USA and Europe soon due to regional losses for the fiscal year that ended in September, though the amounts are not yet determined. More at Car and Driver. 

 Volkswagen is divesting its WeShare electric vehicle-sharing service to Miles Mobility, which operates in multiple cities in Germany and will acquire WeShare’s 2,000-EV fleet. More at Elecdrive. 

+   Buick has filed to register trademarks for multiple versions of the Electra nameplate, first used by the General Motors division in 1959, reportedly for a range of electric vehicles. More at Motor Authority. 

+   Seven-time NASCAR Cup champion Jimmie Johnson will purchase a stake in the Petty GMS Cup team co-owned by Richard Petty, and will reportedly drive in selected races. More at Sports Business Journal.
