+   General Motors will invest $175 million in its Grand River Assembly Plant in Lansing, Michigan where the 2016 Camaro will be produced, restoring a second shift and adding 500 jobs. More at Industry Week.

+   As five automakers broadened their recalls of vehicles equipped with Takata airbag components. the U.S. House Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade.has scheduled a hearing for next week. More at Reuters. 

+   J.D. Power has reached an agreement with the National Automobile Dealers Association to acquire the NADA Used Car Guide, known as the yellow book. More at Auto Remarketing.

+   Swedish rally legend, Saab driver, and three-time RAC winner Erik Carlsson has passed away at age 86. More at Yahoo! Sport UK. 

+   For 2016, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles US will downgrade its powertrain warranty from five years and 100,000 miles to five years and 60,000 miles. More at Motor Trend. 

+   Chevrolet will offer customers both Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto support on seven vehicles as the brand’s 2016 models are rolled out. More at The Detroit News. of 

+   American paint supplier Valspar has entered into an agreement with Quest Specialty Chemicals to acquire its performance coatings operations, currently marketed under the Prospray, Matrix, and USC brands. More at Automotive Business Review. 

+   Early consignments for the RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction include a Lamborghini  Countach Periscopio and an ex-Bill Harrah Ferrari Daytona. More at Sports Car Digest. 

+   The Hendrick Motorsports team of Jimmie Johnson and two other crews were penalized for various technical infractions following last weekend’s Coca-Cola 600. More at Sporting News.
