 Auto manufacturers and suppliers worldwide are bracing for a new round of tariffs from the Trump administration, which are expected to trigger price hikes and worker layoffs. More at MSN News. 

+   Electric vehicle maker BYD of China reported $107 billion in sales in 2024, blowing past Tesla to become the world’s largest manufacturer of electric vehicles.in total revenue. More at CNBC. 

+   March new-vehicle sales are expected to show year-over-year growth, but signs of a slowing market are emerging with an adjusted annual forecast of 15.9 million vehicles. More at CBT News.

 Following a disappointing start in the 2025 Formula 1 season, Liam Lawson has been replaced at Red Bull by Yuki Tsunoda, with Lawson demoted to the Racing Bulls team. More at Motorsport.com.

 A Westland, Michigan man is in custody after eight new Corvettes valued at more than $1 million were stolen from the General Motors plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

+   GMC has introduced two new trim levels for the 2026 Sierra EV, including a new Elevation base model that will slash the pickup’s entry price by nearly $28,000.to $64,495. More at The Drive. 

+   The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is investigating nearly 1.3 million Ford F-150 pickups in the USA over reports of sudden transmission downshifts. More at World Auto Forum. 

 According to Cox Automotive, sales of the Tesla Cybertruck dropped by 32.5 percent between January and February, falling to just 2,619 units to signal a steept drop in demand. More at Autoblog. .

 According to a report from Mopar Insiders, Hemi V8 power will return to the Dodge Charger in late 2026 alongside the current twin-turbo inline six and electric models. More at Car and Driver.

One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, and seems a popular strategy at NHTSA, perfectly descibes the decades long slice and dice recalls of Ford’s home made “maintenance free” ZF six speed automatic transmissions. At highway speeds, VSS signal can be lost due to excess debris buildup on an output shaft speed sensor, so the truck thinks it’s stopped and shifts itself from sixth gear to granny gear locking up the rear wheels even though the ABS tone rings are humming along, therefore possibly violating a driver’s expectations, maybe even causing a crash. Betcha’ hundreds of delicious steak dinners have been eagerly consumed at the world famous Dearborn Inn over all these defect investigations since 2006…
