 United Parcel Service has ordered 10,000 electric delivery trucks from U.K.-based truck maker Arrival, which will build a second plant in North Carolina to fill the order. More at Car and Driver. 

 Ford retained the top spot in U.S. automobile production in 2020 with more than 1.9 million cars and trucks built, nearly 190,000 more than the closest competitor. More at The Detroit Bureau. 

+   In response to concerns from the Chinese military, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said he would shut down the company if the extensive camera systems on its cars were used for spying. More at Reuters. 

 Ludwig Heimrath, Canada’s first national driving champion, second Canadian to race in Formula 1, and father of Ludwig Heimrath Jr., has died of pancreatic cancer at age 86. More at Racer. 

+   The US Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York has filed a civil action to sort out the case of a 1996 Ferrari F50 valued at $1.9 million with two alleged owners. More at CNN.  

 General Motors added 24 lobbyists from five firms to bolster its case as Congress and the White House set out to shape policy on electric vehicles and other issues. More at The Detroit News. 

+   As recorded on security video, a gang of thieves broke into a Harley-Davidson dealer in Kokomo, Indiana and rode four new motorcycles valued at $95,000 out the front door. More at NBC News. 

 Closed for a year due to COVID, The Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles is reopening with a new exhibit called “Supercars: A Century of Spectacle and Speed.” More at The Drive. 

+   Porsche intends to make at least 80 percent of its global product fleet partially or fully electric by 2030, but the 911 sports car will not be among them, says CEO Oliver Blume. More at CNBC. 

+   A number of Formula 1 team principals support increasing the number of test days available in the 2022 pre-season, when the new rules package requires all-new cars. More at Autosport.
