 Volkswagen says its vehicles made in North America comply with the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and are thus likely to avoid the 25 percent U.S. tariff. More at MSN. 

+   Protests at Tesla showrooms have reached Portugal, where demonstrators gathered just ahead of a likely snap election to protest Elon Musk’s support of far-right political parties. More at U.S. News & World Report. 

 Plans by owner General Motors and developer Dan Gilbert to revitalize Detroit’s aging Renaissance Center could cost taxpayers up to $100 million less than anticipated. More at The Detroit News. 

 Cadillac’s new Formula 1 team has received final approval from F1 and its governing body, the FIA, to join the grid in 2026, where it will initially compete with Ferrari engines. More at The Athletic. 

 As Volvo Cars evolves into an electric vehicles-only lineup, CEO Jim Riwant says there will be no reason to continue to produce station wagons, a traditional Volvo mainstay. More at The Drive. 

 The National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) sent a letter urging Volkswagen to reconsider Scout Motors’ decision to sell vehicles directly to consumers. More at CBT News. 

+   With all the production now spoken for, Nissan has officially closed the order book for the R-35 GT-R all-wheel drive sports car with no successor currently in the works. More at Autoweek. 

+   A 1960 Chevrolet Corvette pilot production car with aluminum cylinder heads and serial number 0002 will be offered at the Spring Carlisle Collector Car Auction on April 24-25. More at Old Cars. 

 Stellantis has filed applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to trademark the names Convoy and Sunchaser for products yet to be announced. More at Motor Authority. 

 NASCAR denied rumors from the garage area that the Mexico City race for the Cup and Xfinity series was in jeopardy and confirmed that the event will take place on June 13-15. More at Jayski.

  1. Sunchaser. Sounds like that rumored small sports car is in the pipeline. The MX-5 is an icon but they don’t sell many. This won’t do much on it’s own to save Dodge but perhaps there’s also versions for Fiat and Peugeot, which will make it cost-effective. Don’t care for the name Sunchaser. With Volvo cancelling wagons, maybe Chrysler can bring the Town & Country back. Makes more sense than a minivan representing your luxury brand.

  2. Musk is driving Tesla into a ditch with his poor management and partisan politics. What a shame, the company had promise.
