Today’s headlines: 

+   Jaguar Land Rover is suing Chinese automaker Jiangling Motor for allegedly copying the firm’s Range Rover Evoque with its Jiangling Landwind X7 SUV, insiders say. More at Reuters.

+   The M1 Concourse car-buff condominium project in Pontiac, Michigan, featuring a 1.5-mile road course, luxury garages, and retail and meeting space, will host its first public event on July 1-4. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

+   Toyota has halted production at three vehicle assembly plants in Japan due to a gas explosion at an Aisan Advics brake components factory in Kariya, Aichi Prefecture, interrupting parts deliveries. More at Yahoo! Finance. 

+   Two competitors at the Isle of Man TT races, sidecar driver Dwight Beare, 27, and motorcyclist Paul Shoesmith, 50, were killed in crashes on day one of the event. More at the UK Guardian.

+   The Norwegian business newspaper Dagens Næringsliv reported that the Norwegian government could ban the sale of gasoline-powered autos by 2025. More at Motor Trend.  

+   French automotive conglomerate Valeo has agreed to purchase the German clutch and driveline manufacturer FTE Automotive from Bain Capital in a $930 million deal. More at Automotive Business Review. 

+   Walmart is partnering with ride-sharing services Uber in Denver and Lyft in Phoenix to offer grocery deliveries on a trial basis. More at Engadget. 

+   Faraday Future, the California-based, Chinese-owned electric car startup, has filed for authorization to test its self-driving automotive technology on public roads in Michigan. More at The Detroit News.

+   Nearly 30 previous inductees to the Automotive Hall of Fame will be honored again in 2016 as Celebrated Alumni, including Harley Earl, Zora Arkus-Duntov, Carl Fisher, and Jesse Vincent. More at Hemmings Daily. 

+   The Audi R18 eTron quattro of Lucas di Grassi and Mark Webber’s Porsche 919 paced the field in the official practice session in preparation for the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 15-19. More at Motorsport.com.

  1. When I was growing up in the suburbs of Detroit Harvey Earl was a neighbor and was on my paper route. Us car kids loved to go by and see what exciting new wheels would be in his driveway!

    • Wow, that’s cool. Somewhere I have a photo of the Earls with the Buick Y-Job and the LeSabre in the driveway.

      • Would love to see that picture because of course, i don’t have any!
